Why We Use The Dunwoody Dietary Antigen Test

What is the Dunwoody Dietary Antigen Test?

It is vitally important to understand how you react to certain foods. The Dunwoody Dietary Antigen Test indicates which foods are causing the most response within your immune system. Foods that show a moderate or high reaction on the test should be reduced or completely removed from your daily diet, at least for a period of time (usually six months is a good starting point).

What does the test Measure?

The test measures IgE (Immunoglobulin E ), IgG(Immunoglobulin G), IgG4(Immunoglobulin G4) , and complement activation for multiple foods.

Most food allergy test only check IgE, which can miss delayed allergic reactions and food sensitivities that do not rise to the level of a true “allergy.”

The immune system is like a pie with many pieces. IgE is only one piece of the pie. The Dunwoody Dietary Antigen Test checks the pieces of the pie that cause food allergies AND sensitivities. IgG, IgG4 and complement activation can produce delayed reactions to food.

It may take up to 72 hours after exposure before having a reaction to the offending food. Reactions to low-grade food allergies and sensitivities are  not the stereotypical rash or closing of the throat, but can still be very debilitating and unpleasant. Food sensitivity symptoms can include things like fatigue, headache, stomach ache, gas/bloating, change in bowel pattern, etc.

The Dietary Antigen and Environmental Allergen Exposure Profiles measures 88 foods to check for sensitivities and allergies (far more than the “Big 8” of milk, eggs, fish, crustacean shellfish, tree nuts, peanuts, wheat and soybeans.
