Provider Name(s): Dr. Cole (Hosenfeld)
How did you hear about our group? During a Bible study one night I shared that I was frustrated with my ongoing trouble with migraines. Hannah McEwan and Niki Mooney recommended that I come see Dr. Cole. I really appreciated how Hannah spent several minutes telling me all about the practice and answering my questions.
How long have you been a patient? Since the fall of 2013.
What was your medical issue (in your own words) when you first started coming to our office? On January 29, 2013, I got a migraine and was never able to really get over it. In the fall I identified that neck pain and tension was triggering migraines more frequently. I was miserable. I have since learned that I have chronic migraines.
Tell us a little bit about your experience in our office: From the time I enter the front door and every point along the way I find myself interacting with a staff that is kind, encouraging, welcoming, knowledgeable, compassionate and always personable. I have really appreciated Dr. Cole’s ability to think outside the box and how relentless he has been in his pursuit to help me find relief from my chronic migraines. I have seen so many providers and been in so many offices over my lifetime for a variety of reasons. Apple Health & Wellness stands heads and shoulders above so many of them. It is so encouraging to find someone who is willing to partner with you in your healthcare and who will work on your behalf just as hard as you do. I don’t take for granted having this level of confidence and trust in my providers and their staff.
How would you describe your health now? I feel like a different person in many ways. Dr. Cole helped me improve my nutrition and that alone has been a tremendous contributor to my overall health. I have an energy that I’ve never experienced before. This also helped me to lose weight and reduce inflammation in my body. My neck and shoulders also feel so much better. This has greatly reduced their impact as a trigger for my migraines. Any time I can manage and cut down on migraine triggers I am deeply thankful.
How has your improved health changed your life overall? Chronic pain can drain you physically, mentally and emotionally. My improved health has helped me to better cope with the impact this pain can have on my life. The ways I’ve learned to better fuel my body help provide me with increased energy, which is definitely a gift.
What is something that you are proud of (or looking forward to) now that you are feeling better? I am proud of the steps I have taken to improve my health and the ways I have sustained those changes and made them a part of my lifestyle.
Is there anything that you have noticed about our office that sets us apart from other clinics? It means a lot that the office staff treats me so personably, rather than as just another patient. Dr. Cole is always quick to ask me about my friends and family, as well as details about my own life. I really appreciate the way the staff takes time to get to know me and some details about my life.
Notes from Dr. Cole: Laura’s case was a complicated case that required much discussion and research to help her in her quest for resolution. She is a great example of where collaboration between providers is so important. I feel very fortunate to help her on her healing journey.
